Training and Formation
Training and formation is the central reason for the YCW and Impact - training Young Christian leaders for the world. We understand a leader to be someone who is leading life fully, engaging with their faith in every situation. Cardinal Cardijn, founder of the YCW, said that a YCW member was most fully a YCW out of his or her weekly meeting; when he was on the bus; when she was at work; when they were with their families.
The YCW exists to solve the contradiction between the truth of our faith and the truth of reality by forming young people to be leaders - to be leading a life worthy of a son or daughter of God in every situation.
The main training method of the YCW/Impact is the Review of Life, when young people come together to meet in groups and assist one another, with a chaplain/companion, to see, judge and act.
Two other training methods are commonly used - the review of influence (called 'The Friendship Chart' in Impact), and Action Campaigns.
The National Team regularly organise training events around the country for young people, key YCW leaders and Chaplains/Adult Companions. Where there are no trainings planned YCW HQ will always be able to help organise a special training event for your young people or your chaplains/companions. Please contact HQ.
