8th International Congress of the International Coordination of the Young Christian Workers

Group photograph of the delegates from the ICYCW 2008 CongressThis summer, the England and Wales YCW movement is hosting the 8th International Congress of the International Coordination of the Young Christian Workers at Alton Castle Youth Retreat Centre in Staffordshire. Taking place from 24 August to 7 September 2012, this is once in a lifetime event for the host nation. YCW members from across the world are coming to the UK to grow as leaders as they meet, share and learn from each other about the international reality of YCW. The Congress should renew their enthusiasm and spirit for when they go back to their national movements.

The Congress will take place between the Olympics and Paralympics events. The theme for the Congress: ‘The Class of 2012 – Building a School for Life within the Olympic values of respect, friendship and excellence' was inspired by the Olympic and Paralympics values.

Not only is the Congress going to influence and inspire the delegates from movements around the world but also YCW members from England and Wales. During the two weeks, young people will have a unique opportunity to get a taste of the international reality of YCW by volunteering during the event. This opportunity is not to be missed. Our Impact members will also be able to meet the young people from around the world when they participate in the Impact Camp happening during the middle weekend of the Congress.

All supporters and members of the England and Wales YCW movement in are encouraged to get involved in whatever way they feel they can. To find out more, contact Albert at albert@ycwimpact.com or contact YCW HQ on 020 8203 6290.

We feel privileged to be hosting such an exciting and important event.
